What Cause Spotting And Thick Brown Discharge After Delivery?
Hi, I had a baby about 15 weeks ago. I had some bright red spotting last night. And today I have noticed thick, brown discharge. Not a lot. But it looks a bit like feces. Thick like that. Not same odor though. This is my 3rd child and I have never noticed something like this before
After delivery it will take some time for restarting of menstrual periods. As you delivered 15 weeks back, there is a possibility of thickening of the endometrium by this time, which, when shed that can come out thick tissue and brown spotting. If it is not associated with any foul smelling discharge or excessive bleeding, no need to worry.
This discharge may turn into menstrual flow. If the discharge persists for prolonged period, better to consult your gynecologist once, get examined and undergo an ultrasound to rule out any retained products of conception. If clinical examination and ultrasound do not make out any abnormality no need to worry.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
