Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Cause Severe Pain In The Right Ear While Inhaling?
I feel that my diaphragm does not help me inhale on my right side and I can hardly keep my breath before exhaling. When I do take deep inhales, I feel a sharp pain in my right ear and I feel like my right lung is not filling up completely. I had an injury to my midsection 16 years ago--a tornado kick--that struck right under my right rib cage. X-Rays didn t show any damage, but I am wondering did I have soft tissue damage. I also had a throat injury--eagle claw demonstration wherein I tried to pull away while my Instructor had his fingers wrapped around my trachea (my throat felt like the wires in the wall when an electrician pulls them out a little bit). I also had acid reflux and my throat feels like its ajar, allowing air to escape as well as feeling like when I inhale some air goes into my esophagus instead of all in my lungs.
As per my clinical experience, the current presentation suggests right ear pain sounds to be a problem with vestibuli or cochlea in the inner ear and the same would be best evaluated via audiometry.
Inhalation issue should be evaluated with CT thorax with or without diaphragm study to assist further.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
