Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am having surgery in 6 days but my white cell blood count revealed yesterday for pre-op is high. The doctor will not do surgery if still this high when I go for second blood in 4 days. What could be the causes & can I do something to lower the count before 2nd blood work? Thank You.
The symptoms seem to be related to an infection. The bacterial infections cause high blood cells to count. I suggest to check trough examinations the source of the infection and get it treated properly before the surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
