What Can Cause Pain Below The Ribcage On The Right Side?

trying to get an idea cause of friends pain he is going to hospital for check up but they have not found anything yet right side of abdomen below the rib cage - bump size of my hand under the skin - hard to the touch - does not hurt as bad when sitting - he can not work - has had blood test - looked ok.had cat scan sign of a lower hernia but apparently not related - very sharp pains - no fever - getting progressive worse.

Pain at the right side of abdomen may be due to hepatitis or cholangitis or cholicystitis or right renal caliculi or right colon obstruction etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. please get it done ultrasound abdomen and liver function tests and urine examination. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
