What Can Cause Irregular Periods And Vaginal Spotting?

I ve been having irregular periods for almost 2 yrs now. They can be heavy at times and other times I am spotting. I am on day 11 of this cycle which started only a few days after my last cycle which lasted 64 days. Already had a pelvic/trans vaginal ultrasound and the only thing that was shown was a cyst but I was told it was normal. That was it. No doctor has helped me. I also have thyroid nodules and they too are normal. Am I going through the change? Please help.

Hi,

If you are in your 40s/50s, it is definitely possible that you are about to reach menopause. Changes in menstrual cycles are common in the peri-menopausal period. Please be advised to follow up with your obstetrician-gynecologist to get an LSH, FSH level testing done to confirm/rule out menopause.

The menstrual irregularities and heavy bleeding can be treated with progesterone-only pills.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
