Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I’m experiencing blood in my stools and diarrhea. I’m 64 and in good physical shape. Not a smoker or drinker. Workout 5 times a week. Not overweight. I have been lifting a lot of things as I’m moving. Been very hot and muggy. I had this happen previously but got a colonoscopy in 2015. Doctor said it was hemmoroids which I know I have. I’ve been driving a lot of late also. But it has me concerned.
Hemorrhoids if smaller in size and lesser in numbers then managed by medicines. Apply Smuth cream in morning and evening after defecation. Avoid spicy foods. Take sitz bath (sit 15-20 minutes in lukewarm water) 3-4 times a day.
Take Ibuprofen if pain is there. Take high fiber diet to prevent constipation. If it is actively bleeding (fresh blood is coming out even without bowel movement) then cauterization of active bleeders is required. For that consult surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Hiren Hirpara
