What Can Be Used To Overcome Phlegm In The Throat?
I have what I call post nasal drip . My doctor prescribed Flonase. I used it for over a week but then began having a nose bleed in my left nostril (where I had radiation for skin cancer). I switched to Zyrtec (its generic). It has helped a little, but I still have the flem in my throat. Is there something else I can take that would help? Thank you. Shirley
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have phlegm in the throat which could be due to post nasal drip due to post nasal drip like allergy and due to silent reflux also known as Laryngopharyngeal Reflux. I would suggest you to do warm saline rinses several times a day. You should exercise daily. Avoid oily, sharp food substances. Consult Gastroenterologist as well as ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . If doctor find any infection he/she will put you on antibiotics ( amoxicillin) .It the causative factor will be silent reflux then doctor prescribe proton pump inhibitor and H2 blockers ,also recommend you to change your diet schedule.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
