What Can Be Done For Horrible Crackling Noises Of Right Knee When I Bend It?

I had layed off exercising for a few months (got lazy), and started back to the gym a few weeks ago, doing Cycling and Treadmill (cardio), and I did something to my right knee and hip. When I go from a sitting position, my right hip seems to stick and lock in place and I have to turn a certain way for it to unlock. Then, in addition to the hip, my right knee is making horrible crackling noises when I bend it and hurts really bad when I go up and down stairs or do any kind of stepping that causes any kind of impact. I m 37 years old and in pretty good health from what I know. I m 5-7, and 135 pounds, so I m not overweight. I just can t figure out what I did, if it will go away, or if I should see a doctor.
