What Can Be Causing The Rashes On The Legs And Upper Body While Being Treated For Lyme Disease?
I was recently diagnosed with lyme disease. I started a course of ammox 500 mg 3xd. Today I noticed a rash on lower legs and spreading up toward my upper body. I have had ammox many times in my life with no problem. Could this be the bacteria dying off causing the rash?
As per your query you have symptoms of rashes on the legs and upper body which could be due to increased skin sensitivity and compromised immunity of the body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to:-
- Apply cold compresses to the affected area.
- Take aspirin or acetaminophen for itchiness and burning sensation.
- Avoid sun exposure.
- Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 even if you are not under sun exposure.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Take over the counter anti-allergic drug like Benadryl or Zyrtec.
