What Can I Do To Improve My Fathers Lost Appetite After Triple Bypass Surgery?

My dad is one week past triple bypass surgery. We can't get him to eat. He says nothing tastes good and he has no appetite. He is also very nauseated. He did not eat for a week prior to surgery. We know he needs food and nutrition - any ideas on how to get him over the hump.

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. Usually, the best strategy is to let him choose whatever is appealing to him, whether solid or liquid. Good control of the nausea is important, and also it is to make sure that the kidney function is preserved after surgery, as this can be a cause of nausea and lack of appetite.

Hope that helps wish you the best,
