Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My name is Danish and want to start nicotex, but I have heard about its side effects . Once 5 to 6 month back I started nicotex but just for 3 to 4 days I had it, then I suffered with stomach upset and chest burn.
Now my query is one of my friend told me that side effects will last for a week or ten days after that my body will adjust . Is it true ?
Hello Danish! i understand your concern. Nicotine gums works by releasing nicotine which is absorbed into the body and binds to nicotine receptors, reducing nicotine craving and withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation.
Common side effects are increase heart rate, increased blood pressure, oral irritation, dental pain, hiccups, heartburn, nausea, and indigestion. People with history of heartburn are likely to experience flare up on using nicotine gum, and hence it is in their best interest to avoid it.
You can consult your doctor to take separate medication for heartburn and gastrointestinal upset.
Take Care!
