What Are The Symptoms Of Piriformis Syndrome?

I m pretty sure I have periformis syndrome- I don t have Heath ins so I ve been to the dr once and got a course of steroids (oral) - it helped with my neck and shoulder pain but my but and hip really bother me. I ve been doing recommended stretching - rolling on a foam roller - I m not on anti inflammatories now but did take 600mg of Advil for 10 days about 2 mo ago. I ve had 2 intense massages. Right now I m sitting on a heating pad. I use ice when Itake long car rides. I ve been doing hair for 37 years and I think this is a result of my shampooing position. I try to adjust it and be aware of my posture all day. Is there anything else I can do??

Good Evening,
Thanks for given information,According to your pain symptoms especially hip joint can be Piriformis syndrome is a condition in which the piriformis muscle, located in the buttock region, spasms and causes buttock pain. The piriformis muscle can also irritate the nearby sciatic nerve and cause pain, numbness and tingling along the back of the leg and into the foot (similar to sciatic pain).
here some exercise suggest might be helpful relief pain
Begin this exercise while lying on your back with both knees bent at about a 45-degree angle and both feet flat on the floor.
Let your arms rest at your sides.
Slowly lift the hips by pushing on the floor with your feet until your knee, hip, and shoulder are a straight line.
Repeat for 12 reps.
Put resistance band on above each ankle.
Separate feet slightly as you get into a 45-degree angle squat with your abs tucked (feel like you are trying to touch your belly button to your backbone).
Step laterally.
Keeping your shoulders even, bring other foot in towards the lead leg to finish your step.
Repeat in the same direction for the length of the room.
Return to the other side of the room facing the same direction.
Kindly also advise you consult with Rheumatologist for medication
Thanks for consult,
Regards,
Dr,Naeem. MD
