Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 15 years old and I'm pretty sure that I am depressed. I realize I need to talk to my parents about this but I'm not 100% sure that I am depressed and at the same time I'm scared to tell them because they are the "judgmental type". How can I tell 100% that I am in fact depressed and how should I tell my parents/what should I do?
I went through your details. Please tell me how you assessed you are depressed? You are just 15 and you do not have much knowledge about psychiatry. You should be able to distinguish between disappointment and depression. Disappointment also brings on symptoms identical to depression but they are short lived. Were you disappointed in the near past?
You can read the articles available in the world wide web about depression. Go through the symptoms. If you have one third of those symptoms, and if you are not disappointed, you may come back for depression related query. Now you may consult a psychological counselor. Take care.
