What Are The Side Effects Of Using Gutka?

Hi Doctor,

My Name is Naushad from India and I am not able open my mouth completely because of Gutkha. I had quited chewing Gutkha before 6 months but still mouth is not opening. Please suggest me any medicine or treatment as I am not able to eat properly.

hello naushad, i understand your concern and its good that you understand the cause of your problem , that is "gutkha chewing" leading to "sub-mucous fibrosis' due to which there is difficulty in mouth opening. it is appreciable that you have quit gutkha and you should keep on abstaining from it . regarding treatment of the sub,ucous fibrosis you should visit any good ENT (ear,nose,throat) specialist who will examine you and may treat you with injections of steroidal medicines, placental extracts etc, and if the condition is very advanced may do some local surgical intervention like resection of the bands . take care , hope i answered your query - if satisfied please rate the answer
