Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query.Medication for BP is prescribed after considering associated disease, condition of organs like a target organ damage or possibility of that. When your BP increase to 140/100 in this age there is a high possibilty of hypertrophy of heart walls, kidney damage and retinal damage of retinal microvessels. Such conditions the best drugs of choice is ACE inhibitor or Angiotensin receptor blocker drugs like telmisartan (telmikind). It is a newer generation drug with lesser side effects. So you don't need to worry.Have a regular follow up with your treating doctor.
Let me know if you have any further query.
