What Are The Side Effects Of Smoking Post Tonsillectomy?

When am i safe to smoke a cigarette after my tonsillectomy? I am 21 years old and only need one to get by. I am on day 7 and i am going crazy. Spare me the "you should just quit now..." because ive heard if from everyone else. Its redundant and annoying and im not going to listen to it again. I want a REAL answer.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain smoking after Tonsillectomy might increase the Inflammation and thus pain, swelling and mucous discharge will also increase..
There will be delayed healing and chances of infection will increase..
Therefore due to all these reasons you are advised to quit smoking..
In case if you have severe craving you can take Nicotine Replacement Therapy like chewing nicotine gums and apply nicotine patches over skin that will maintain levels of nicotine in blood and reduce craving

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
