Hi,

Deriphyllin retard contains a combination of Etofylline and Theophylline. A sudden hike in the dose from 100 mg BD to 150 mg along with Deriphyllin injections may precipitate an increase in heart rate; however, since your mother is taking Cordarone 100 mg (controls heart rate), her chances of getting tachycardia is less.

Other side effects include abdominal discomfort, sleeplessness, unusual twitching of the muscles, headache and may also precipitate seizures for a person with an underlying seizure disorder (very rarely may cause seizures in an individual without underlying seizure disorder). Excess dosing may result in life threatening arrhythmias. However, Deriphyllin retard is a useful drug for asthma when used in the appropriate dose. Kindly consult your specialist for an accurate dosing of the same.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
