What Are The Side Effects Of Colonoscopy?

Is it a cause of concern vomit 48 hours after a colonoscopy where one 1cm polyp was removed? Toady it s 48hr after the procedure and I vomited the whole dinner and after a few hours the tea I drank as well. I emptied my bowel three times today without diarrhea but I usually go only once a day. I am staying at my mother s house and she has been having what may seem like a viral infection for the last few days which started with vomiting and then with diarrhea. I have only spent 1.5 days at her house so I am not sure I would catch her bug so quickly. What would you advice me? Thank you.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Colonoscopy would not lead to vomiting and diarrhoea.
The procedure is safe and does not cause symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea.
As you have mentioned that there is history of vomiting and diarrhea in the family, it is likely that the symptoms could be due to infection transmitted from one person to the other.
Vomiting and diarrhea can be managed symptomatically by taking light meals, avoiding heavy food items, maintaining hydration by taking fluids and avoiding impure water.
Viral infections are usually self limiting.
If there is superimposed bacterial infection, antibiotic needs to be taken.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and thus management.

Thanks and take care
