What Are The Side Effects Of Primolut Injection During Pregnancy?
I am 9 weeks pregnant however I ve had a some bleeding, quite heavy with clotts twice now and my doctor has given me primolut injection and I ve to take it weekly for the next. 3 weeks. I don t feel very well very tired and weak. What are the known side effects? Will I make me heavier that normal at this stage of pregnancy? I m quite petite thank you
As per my clinical experience, the Primolut-N consists of norethisterone which is similar to female hormone progesterone. The regular use of Primolut N in females is known to control heavy menses in many clinical conditions.
However, use of Primolut N is contraindicated in pregnancy due to - Increase risk of abortion - Developmental defects as virilization in female fetus if administered during sexual development phase of embryo - Abnormal vaginal bleeding - Others However, it is recommended to consult the indication of the Primolut N in your case at 9 weeks pregnancy with treating OBGYN.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
