What Are The Side Effects Of Prednisone And Methotrexate?
I have just been diagnosed with RA I have been on Prednisone and Methotrexate for 5 mo. now, today I discovered on both my feet my 2nd to the large toenail was disconnected from the nail bed, I was actually able to take both off, they look similar to what a smashed nail bed looks like, it this a side effect? I have always had very clear unblemished nails.
You are concerned about loss of your nail on the 2nd toe on both feet. Sometimes medication can cause this to happen and both prednisone and methotrexate has shown to cause this. In addition to taking the medication the toenails could have been damaged by shoes and with the combination with the medication allowed for the nail to fall off. I do not recommend that you stop taking the medications. I recommend you discuss this with your doctors. Also wear well fitting shoes that will not damaged your toenails
