What Are The Side Effects Of Lisinopril?

I have been taking Lisinopril for years without much in the way of side effects. Now I am having issues with numbness, prickling, tingling, etc. These began in early May. I have a head CT and MRI, a carotid Doppler, a Lyme disease test, a vitamin B test, and my sinuses thoroughly checked out. All of these tests have showed up no issues. I have just thoroughly read the list of Lisinopril side effects. I am going to talk with my internist about changes BP meds. My BP has vascillated more lately as well. I was wondering if I should hope to stay with ACE inhibitors since I tolerated one and it worked so well for many years.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Lisinopril and ACE inhibitors in general can cause numbness and tingling sensation and it is possible that the symptoms you have are related to it. It also causes increased potassium blood levels (increased potassium blood levels can also cause tingling and numbness sensation) so it is important to talk with your doctor and have potassium levels checked because potassium is an important electrolyte that affects the cardiovascular system.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
