What Are The Side Effects Of Covance D?

Dear Doctor, My name is Binoy and I am from Kerala.I have started using Covance D at an age of 34 when detected with Hypertension and has been continuing it for 6 yeas.Now my BP is quite normal. 1)Do I have to continue the medicin? 2)Is there any side effect for continuous use of Covance D? 3)Is it adviceable to use any generic substitute for Covance D like Lostat H(By Blue Cross Laborataries Ltd.)

I appreciate your concern regarding the safety profile of Covance D.
This medicine consists of two components Losartan and Hydrocholorothiazide.
Even though your BP appears to be normal, you will have to continue these medicine.
This medicine is known to cause the following side effect,,,Dry cough, rash, increased blood sugar, increased cholesterol, increased uric acid level.
As long as your BP is controlled you may take any branded preparations containing both the components like Lozar-H, Hyzaar-H, etc.
