What Are The Side-effects Associated With Antihistamines?

I am having an Esopogeal Ultrasound with pancrease biopsy Thursday and I have contact dermatitis (certainly not at all related) however, I have been on prednisone and atarax and other antihystimines during the day for the extreme itching. Would the antihystimines be considered in the blood thinner catagory. I forgot to tell the physician s nurse that I was on them. I have not taken them in 2 days and I am going insane with the itching. HELP. by the way, ignore my spelling. please

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
You are experiencing itching of skin due to some of the chemicals or contrast materials which would have been used during the procedure you have undergone.
What medications have been prescribed needs to be taken as advised to overcome your symptoms.
Do not worry as anti-histamines are not considered under blood thinner category. You can safely take them as the common side effects include dry mouth and drowsiness.
Hence, kindly take the medications as advised and your symptoms would subside gradually.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
