What Are The Repercussions Of Overdosing On Carvedilol?

I m 71 years old and have mistakenly taken 3 Carvedilol tabs instead of the 2 prescribed. My blood pressure is presently 107/48. The 3rd pill was taken about 45 minutes ago. How low can my BP go before I should seek medical assistance. Bernard Rose

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Bernard Rose,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Carvedilol is a beta-blocker, which is used to treat heart failure and hypertension (high blood pressure).
The 3rd pill you have taken could cause some of the side effects, which you need to be watchful. The blood pressure readings is little lower than normal.
If otherwise normal, increase your fluid intake and keep your foot end elevated. Check your blood pressure readings every two hours and it must show increasing trend.
You need to seek medical assistance in case you show the following overdose symptoms like uneven heartbeats, shortness of breath, bluish-colored fingernails, dizziness, weakness, fainting, and convulsions.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
