What Are The Repercussions Of Missing The Placebo Pills?

I started Zovia birth control recently. The first pack I skipped the placebo week and went straight to the next pack of active pills. During that second pack of birth control, I had sex during the 3rd week, then during the placebo week all I noticed for bleeding was dark blood clots rarely over two days, is this okay? Should I be worried about pregnancy? Other than skipping the placebo I have missed no pills.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Missing placebo pills should not put a patient at a risk for pregnancy. On the other hand, because no contraception method is 100% effective, any change in the periods or any abnormal bleeding should warrant a urinary pregnancy test.
Thus, I would advise you to have a urinary pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
