What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Ingestion Of Trazadone?

I have a 2 year old girl that m sister is watching. My daughter as found by my sister to have gotten hold of a Trazadone 50 mg tablet and had it in her mouth. My sister had her spit it out and it doesn t look like it really dissolved or was chewed on. I am at work, do I need to be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As your child swallowed accidentally Trazadone, it's not going to hurt. because usually, Trazadone takes 2 to 3 weeks regularly for it's an effect. And as you said the child didn't chew it, there is no need to worry. The child may feel sleepy for 1 to 2 day. Otherwise, it's normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
