What Are The Pregnancy Chances After Missing Periods?
Hi... i have a question about birth control. i'm a 23 yr old woman and have been on the same birth control for almost 5 yrs. it has worked very well. what i'm wondering is i missed a pill (took it the following day) then had unprotected sex about 5 days later. i have missed 3 periods (its not unusual for me to miss 1 or 2 in a row) i'm just wondering what the chances are of me being pregnant? should i do a pregnacy test?
If you miss a solitary pill and take it within 12 hours, it covers up the gap. So that particular missed pill should not cause you any concern. To confirm whether you are pregnant or not, get ultrasonography done. Since your periods are so irregular, I am really not sure whether your urine pregnancy test will be reliable. If you get your beta hCG test done, that is quite reliable. Moreover, your menses seem to be irregular. I am more concerned about it. The chances of your hormonal imbalance are quite high. In spite of being on birth control pills if your periods are irregular, keep Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in mind; may be some other underlying pathologies also. Better discuss this with your gynaecologist and get the pathology properly diagnosed and treated. Many hormonal imbalances if go on trailing for prolonged time, there is a risk of they becoming irreversible. So please do not waste time and report to your Gynaecologist for your irregular periods.
