Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the safety of Ciplar LA 40.
Incomplete data regarding the actual ingredient of Petrol 0.5 mg tablet.
The long term side effects associated with the use of Ciplar LA are:
Fatigue, slow pulse rate, cold extremities (hands and feet), sleep disturbances, decreased libido, difficulty in breathing (more in patients with airway diseases like asthma,
chronic lung disease), etc.
Abrupt cessation of Ciplar LA therapy may result in
hypertension,
myocardial infarction, and
angina pectoris.
The treatment of hypertension involves life long use of the medications, hence Ciplar LA can only be replaced by another effective drug for the control of hypertension if necessary or due to the uncomfortable side effects.
Therefore, the dosage of the Ciplar LA should be gradually reduced over at least a few weeks with the treating doctor's advice.
If Ciplar LA therapy is interrupted and exacerbation of angina occurs, it usually is advisable to reinstitute Ciplar LA therapy and take other measures appropriate for the management of
unstable angina pectoris.
Sorta 50 is known to cause dizziness, sleep disturbances, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, etc.
Abruptly discontinuing of Sorta treatment can result in
abdominal pain, agitation, diarrhea, dizziness, dyspepsia, fatigue, headache, hot flushes, insomnia, nausea, nervousness,
palpitation, and tremor.
So, its dose should also be gradually reduced over several weeks with the treating doctor's advice.
Since the actual ingredient of Petrol 0.5 mg tablet could not be found hence it is not possible to comment on its safety.
Hope the explanation given above has helped to clear your concerns.
A feed back is appreciated.
