What Are The Effects Of Risperidone, Trazodone, Citalopram And Lamotrigine In Thyroid Patient?
Does Risperidone, trazodone,citalopram and lamotrigine (generic due to costs) cause problems for people with thyroid disease. My niece has a severe sore throat, congestion. Dr. has tried doxycyclin, she has autism and bipolar - has many issues. What I have read on some of these meds are it causes dizziness, weight gain - call md immediately if sore throat persists. She been to emergency room numerous times and keep prescribing heavy duty drugs. She s in another state not sure what to tell her without freaking her out. YYYY@YYYY

Based on the history you have shared, yes these drugs cause sedation at times but with autism and bipolar disorders you need to slow down the brain and sometimes help it get to its activity back and that all is done by altering neurotransmitters but regular follow up with a neurologist and psychiatrist is a must.
Though she is currently suffering from some upper respiratory tract infection which can be tonsillitis or pharyngitis and may need throat swab culture as well oral antibiotics according to cultures report.
Of problem persists an otolaryngologist review may be needed. Decongestant, oral anti histamines and anti inflammatory drugs may be helpful as well.
