What Are The Cares To Be Taken For The Wound Due To A Stab On Finger With A Knife?

Hi. I recently (2 days ago) stabbed my left pinky finger with a kitchen knife. I think it is possible I hit the bone. The injury is on the palm side in the middle of the finger. The cut is only about 1/4 of an inch wide and I was able to stop the bleeding fairly easily but the finger is very numb. My tetnus is up to date. Is there any other care I need other than antibiotic ointment?

Hi,

The very first thing you should have done is to stop bleeding (which you succeeded).

Next, should take proper care (cleaning) of your wound. If not inflamed or swollen or any discharge, you can continue to use:
- apply first otc iodine 10%
- after that, can apply oxygenated water
- at last, can apply non/medicated bandage to cover it.

You should also take tetanus shot too by your healthcare provider.

Hope it was of help!
