What Are Side Effects Of Smoking Marijuana Before A Lipoabdominoplasty?

I am due for a lipoabdominoplasty surgery on July 5th. My surgeon has advised me to stop smoking marijuana 6 weeks prior to the surgery. Normally, I smoke half a joint during week evenings, and a couple of joints on weekends. However, I have completely quit in my first week of the 6 weeks but I was wondering how harmful it would be if I had a few tokes on weekends during this period and would completely abstain at least 2 weeks prior. I'm not a heavy smoker, I don't smoke cigarettes, smoking an occasional toke on weekends 3 to 6 weeks prior would just be helpful to keep me calm as I await this major surgery.

I look forward to your answer. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi there,

by itself, marijuana can cause disruption in heart rhythm, slowing down of the heartbeats and of the lungs, or even swelling of the lungs, but, in conjunction with anesthesia, marijuana can cause severe complications, which can sometimes be fatal. So I would advise you to stop smoking, as your doctor recommended.
Good luck with your surgery and all the best.
