What Are Recurring Fever, Chills And Pelvic Pain In Left Side Suggestive Of?

I have a fever with chills. Pain in my pelvic area on the left side. My husband seems to think it is menopause. I am 54 years old. My last period was July 3rd and then I had a very light period on July 29th. I have a heavy feeling in my stomach. I am urinating with no problem.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain like this would not be typical for menopause, especially on one side like this with fevers. I would be concerned about a possible infection, or possibly a ruptured ovarian cyst or diverticulitis as well. I would recommend making an appointment with your doctor to check your blood and possibly get an ultrasound or CT scan to further investigate this, and if the pain or fever worsen, you may need to go to the ER.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
