What Are Complications Of Plural Effusion With Fatty Liver?
In the past couple of years my husband has experienced pleural thickening, then pleural effusion with a partially collapsed lung. He has seen two pulmonologists and they have only taken regular cat scans. He now has a fatty liver with elevated GGT (124). He is not overweight and not a drinker. I am concerned that something more is going on now that he has liver problems also. Any suggestions?
Hello, 1) Fatty liver and pleural thickening are not associated to each other. 2) He need liver evaluation, grade of fatty liver for fatty liver and this require USG abdomen/Ct scan abdomen. A follow up evaluation is mandatory to check progression or regression in fatty liver. 3) He need base-line lipid profile test and must be done every 6 months (even if he is not overweight) and USG abdomen every 3-months. 4) He should follow instructions for pleural thickening as given by pulmonologist.
