What Are Breakouts Around The Lips Of A Child With Yellow Crust Suggestive Of?

My daughter is 11 and had a breakout around her lips that caused pain, swelling and bumps. Took her to the doctor andcafter a few days if oral medicine and a topical ointment it cleared up. She is now showing the same symptoms but this time there is yellow crust developing around her lips. Dont know whats causing it or what I can do to give her relief until I can take her to tge doctor

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of having breakouts around lips of your daughter that causes pain , swelling and bumps along with yellowish crust can be due to conditions like Impetigo that is a bacterial infection, eczema or less chances but can also be due to Viral infection in case if there are clusters of bumps..

I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get her evaluated and a clinical evaluation can be sufficient but if required for confirmation culture and sensitivity testing, blood tests can be done for confirming the cause..

The Dermatologist can advise antibiotics, anti- inflammatory medicines and topical antibiotic ointment if it is bacterial infection..
Antiviral medication Oral as well as topical like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir can be given in case of Viral infection..
Eczema can be treated with Steroids..
