Throbbing Chest Pains With Quick, Short Breaths And Pain In Shoulder

Once in awhile I'll have pains in my chest and it feels like someone is squeezing my heart. If I take a breath it gets tighter and tighter until I'm taking quick, short breathes. It only last for a minute and I don't feel any other pains but a pain in my heart. I've had this for 2 years and for 7 months I haven't had an episode except today it happened again. I used to get them once or twice a month but then it just stopped. I'm afraid it's happening again. And while it only last a minute or two it's very painful. Today I noticed afterwards my shoulder hurt. A throbbing pain...I don't know if it's because of what happened or it's something else I did today. I also don't remember if I had a pain in my shoulder any other time since its been a while...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, as you describe it appears to be the angina pectoris, and it is due to the less blood supply to the heart, and also get referred pain to the shoulder.
Other causes could be the gastric irritation, with refered pain to the chest, and shoulder.
You should have E.C.G,echo cardiogram, and stress test, to confirm or exclude the cardiac involvement.
So i advise you to consult a cardiologist for diagnosis, and treatment. Thank you.
