I was taking 40mg of benazapril twice a day for many years to control blood pressure. If I were to average my bp readings I would say around 145/90 with a pulse rate in the 80s. I maintained a healthy lifestyle, mostly vegetarian diet, 30-40 minute daily walk. Suddenly one day, I felt unwell, took my bp and it was 225/117. In ER the bp went down without any medication to 170/90, I was sent home and advised to talk to my doctor about my medication. Two medications were added 25mg chlorthaladone 1x day, 12.5mg cardvedilol 2x day. For a while my readings stayed close to the range of 120/80 and sometimes much lower with sytolics in the teen and diastolics in 60s and 70s. Now the bp range is sys 140-170 dia 95-95. My question is why has this happened?
