Taking Eptoin And Dysknesia, Relived From The Disease. Is This Tab For Lifetime?

Hi Doctor, I have been taking eptoin for Dysknesia for almost 6 years. I used to stop Eptoin to check if my disease has moved away.But it has bounced back all the time.Last year i consulted a doctor and he adviced me to take 300 grms eptoin and a calcium tablet. I did not try the trail this time and for a year i am relieved of it.Has my disease cured or is this medicine for my life time.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You are having Dyskinesia, and good part is it is well controlled with the eptoin.
The duration of treatment depend on cause is it genetic or drug induced like drugs of parkinsonism or phenothiazine group.
If your abnormal movement is not there then continue your treatment and please visit a Neurologist to examine and find out if the trial of drug free interval can be given or not.
Please do not stop the drug your self as it causes withdrawal.Please continue the dose as advised(300 mg) it may be for long duration if not lifelong.
When taking eptoin please maintain good oral hygiene good clean and healthy gums.
