Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

As you are a paraplegic since many years and may be confined to bed most of the time in a day, swelling in the legs (pedal odema) is a common finding owing to venous stasis of blood in the legs.

Passive movements involving all the joints in the lower limbs helps in resolving the swelling in the legs. So, I welcome your idea of consulting a Physiatrist who will take care of your paralysed limbs and will teach you all the necessary exercises to keep your joints supple.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
