Swelling And Pain In Index Finger Joint Due To Kitten Bite. No Relief From Oral Antibiotics. Concerning?

My kitten bit my index finger at the second joint last night. I went to the ED today and was given oral antibiotics and this evening there is increased swelling and more pain. Should I be concerned and go back to the ED or keep taking the antibiotics and wait until tomorrow to see if I improve?

Thank you - Tamara

Hi,
You must keep taking the full course of antibiotics. Simple pain killers can be taken for the pain. Elevate the hand as this can sometimes relieve the swelling to a degree. If there is no improvement in the next 24 hours then you need to be seen again in the ED.
