Suggest Ways To Reduce Weight When Diagnosed With PCOS

Hi Doctor, I am 28yrs Female, married in Feb 2014, we are planning for baby now, Last year 2015, when i did USG abdomen scan for my stomach pain, in the report it shows PCOS. But now; i am not sure of it, so i went to a Gynaec Doctor, she suggested me to take Folvite 5mg, Glyciphage 500mg and Aspirin 75mg for 1 month {without taking any recent scan}. My worry is for last two years, i have maintained weight for 70+. Currently i am having 100kg weight {height 160cm}, i am really worried about my weight. Please advise me, shall i take the above medicines and will it help me to reduce my weight and get pregnant. Please share your advise for my health and weight in detail.

Yes you can take the above medications. Glyciphage (metformin) may help you with weight loss and also increase chances of pregnancy. But you need to be proactive in aiming for weight loss. Your BMI is around 39 which is considered as obese and ideally it should be below 25 (atleast below 30). You should aim at a weight below 70 kg for that. Please do not drastically decrease weight over weeks, rather plan appropriately over months. Increase your physical activity levels, follow a strict diet pattern, avoid junk foods and sedentary lifestyle.
Take all the above medications and also include lifestyle modifications as discussed above and your chances of getting pregnant certainly increases.
