Found out that 3 Statins over a period of time I am alergic too -- and my doctor has tried several Welchol over the last yr. Results are slow and therefore I am not on anything just yet -- Will be seeing her shortly to discuss this on-going problem but --- all the gum I have been chewing -- Is that adding to my high levels over this period of time too ? --- Doc is there any recommendations you many have to add to helping me overcome this problem --- I am Type 2 Diabetic --- No meds thou! - Thank you :)

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
First of all why are you not taking drugs for diabetes . If you are controlling with diet and exercise then levels should be fine . The fasting blood sugar level should be below 140mG and 2 hours after meals should be 200 mg and HbA1c below 6.5 . Once you control diabetes your lipid level will normalize by itself . You can control lipid by fatty fried foods and sweets restrictions plus morning or evening walk at moderate pace at least for 30 minutes daily .
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
