Hello there, I can understand your concern about uncontrolled sugars. From your age and symptoms (weight loss) and the fact that your sugars are not getting controlled with oral drugs I am of the opinion that you have type 1 diabetes (probably the one called Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of Adult onset) which does not respond to oral antidiabetic drugs but needs to be treated by insulin injections. Before starting therapy I usually require Fasting blood sugars, 2 hours after meal sugars and HbA1c. Also Kidney functions, Urine protein/ Creatinine ratio, Cholesterol and liver and thyroid functions (if indicated by history or examination). Discuss this with your treating physician who can guide you through this plan of treatment. Your doctor will guide you about insulin use and monitoring your sugars. If needed visit a diabetologist who can help you better.Till then reduce sugars and sweets, drink lots of water. There is no need to worry as with right doses of insulin your sugars will come under control and you will start feeling better. Hope this helps. Take care.
