Suggest Treatment That Help Relieve Lower Back Pain For A 57-year-old

I have had back surgery, Kyphoplasty, on my L3 and L4 vertebrae. I also was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. I am 57 years old. The pain is still in my lower back and travels across and to my groin area. I have taken 9 different types of anti inflamitories and none have worked. I am now on a 3 series nerve block and was told today that I have a bulging disc . War are my options?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about a 57 year old patient who had undergone Kyphoplasty at L3 and L4, severe osteoporosis, pain in lower back that travels to the groin, taking 9 different types of anti-inflammatory, going for 3 series nerve block, wants to know the options as has been told about a bulging disc.
Since there is a disc it may need removal if causing the typical symptoms.
Somehow the pain that is being referred to the goin may be related to the following things that need to be examined and investigated for:
Developing hernia can cause groin pain.
Local tendinitis at the groin should be looked for.
Ilio-inguinal nerve and ilio-hypogastric nerve traced to see if pinched or so.
Trial with nerve block can help.
Discuss all these points with your Doctors to get a proper diagnosis and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
