Suggest Treatment For Wet Cough With Greenish Yellow Phlegm

I have a wet cough. My phlegm is a greenish yellow colour. I am using a nasal decongestant & a ventolin inhaler. My nasal mucus is clear. This started in my head & is now in my chest. I live in a rural area & my Clinic is closed for another week. I don't have access to transport. I have had bad chest infections in the past that have required antibiotics & or Prednisolone- 1 tablet for three days. In my medicine chest I have Amoxycillin 500mg. I also have Panafcortelone 25mg & 5mg. I don't feel too bad at the moment but I am a diabetic & want to know what I should do if things get worse.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain wet cough can occur due to causes like Upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, lung infection, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and he can advise you investigations like sputum culture, chest x ray etc to rule out the exact cause of symptoms ad treat accordingly..
He can advise you antibiotics like Augmentin, amoxillin, levofloxacin etc..
Anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, anti allergic like Levocetrizine, mucolytics like Ambroxol, cough suppressants containing Gueifenesin or Dextromethorphan..
Steam inhalations and warm saline gargles can help..
As of now you can start taking cough suppressants and anti allergics along with mucolytics..
Sip on warm water and do steam inhalations and warm saline gargles..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
