Suggest Treatment For Weight Gain, Indigestion And Constipation

I fear I have ovarian cancer. I have 3 family members with that and many symptoms myself recently. Blaoating weight gain, indigestion, gas, frequent urination, constipation and have a hard time with bowel movements. I gained 4 lbs in one month which is not normal. I am 52 and in menopause. I have been steadily gaining weight for about one year and look like I am pregnant.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, cancers don't present with weight gain rather a rapid weight loss most of the times.

These symptoms resemble with IBS however local intestinal pathologies should be ruled out. Stool analysis and CT abdomen and if needed colonoscopy may be asked after a detailed review by a gastroenterologist.

Using antacids like omeprazole and motility agents like domperidone or itopride can be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
