Suggest Treatment For Vomiting, Diarrhea And Loss Of Appetite

Have been sick. Symptoms are vomitting, diarhea, lethargy, loss of appetite. Dr told me my ammonia levels (after not eating for 24-30 hrs) were high at 96. Also have low albumin levels. Have liver shunt. Will lactulose help reduce ammonia levels in my blood?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite which seems to be due to electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you not to panic at all. You should start treatment with combination of fluroquinolones and ornidazole. Yes you can take lactulose for lowering of ammonia levels. You can take banana on daily basis and light food. Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate yourself. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined and start treatment after prescription. You should get intravenous fluid administration as well. Avoid taking Domperidone. Avoid hot, sharp and spicy food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
