Suggest Treatment For Vomiting, Diarrhea And Abdominal Pain

Hello. I am asking on behalf of my father in law. His symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea and a lot of abdominal pain and pain on his sides (he believes the appendix area). He is on blood thinners, cholesterol, blood pressure,anti-anxiety and anti-deppresants. These symptoms are sudden.

Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. With diarrhea, this is most likely a gastrointestinal infection, which normally is not anything to worry about, as long as he is able to stay well hydrated. However, if he was not able to keep any fluids down, or having more than 6 episodes of diarrhea in 24 hours, or if he had a fever or severe abdominal pain, I would see a doctor to make sure he is not getting dehydrated, and to see about getting antibiotics to help him recover sooner from this illness.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions about that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
