Suggest Treatment For Uncontrolled Diabetes During Pregnancy
hi dr. my wife seven month pregnent and she suffer with diabetes family history. i consult with a doctor in begining pragency he prescribe me take humen mixtad insulin 5 unit before each meal. sugar is controlled but BP is high 180/120 after that he says take actrapat insulin morning and lunch and in night Livermir insulin. now BP is normal but sugar not controled. pls suggest what i do.
Your wife symptoms seem to be related to two different diagnosis. The treatment of gestational diabetes is only through insulin therapy. So, your wife should continue to use insulin as prescribed by your doctor. Hipertenaion during pregnancy is another medical condition which should be maintained under control with proper treatment. If it not maintained under control it can risk the pregnancy. So, I suggest to consult your gynecologist for a specific treatment. Meanwhile, I suggest to rest and avoid too much salt in the diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
