Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 7 and has severe back tooth pain he saw a dentist yesterday who x rated his top and bottom teeth and could not see any thing in particular but he is really struggling and crying and constantly had to keep cold water in his mouth to find relief that's with Max calpol and inruprofen, any ideas?
As per your complain if your son has pain in tooth that he can point out specifically along with pain and keeping cool water and taking pain killer is relieving it then it is an indication of inflammation that can be caused due to infection or deep decay in tooth or can be due to cracked or fractured tooth.. Both these conditions can cause nerve inflammation and pain.. I would suggest you to consult a Pedodontist and get him re-evaluated and x rays has to be taken with different angulations a certain overlapping problems can cause missed diagnosis.. In case if tooth is decayed or fractured then either root canal treatment or extraction will help in relieving pain permanently.. As of now continue with painkillers and also do cool compresses over the face.. Give him soft diet.. Avoid very hot or very cool foods as they can also trigger pain..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
