Suggest Treatment For Tightness In The Septum And Scab In Left Nostril

I had septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery on June 2nd. I am still feeling some tightness in the septum, how much longer will I experience that feeling? I also have a scab in left nostril and I am using saline and irrigations, when should it fall out or will a doctor need to scrape it out?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you are having tightness & scabs you are suggested to go for follow up examinations.

It commonly takes about 3 months' time for the nose to show total clearance. As the surgical site is sensitive leave the scabs alone, do not pick at them.

Use saline nasal sprays you have been prescribed to keep the nasal passages from drying out.

Stay away from dusty places. Avoid people to stop the risk of catching cold & infection. Your treating doctor will remove the scab if needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
